K - 12 Education

The Chatham County School System serves over 7,500 students at 15 schools; in addition, Chatham County is home to four private schools, including Auldern Academy and Chatham Charter School in Siler City, Our Neighborhood School in Pittsboro, and Woods Charter School in Chapel Hill.

Central Carolina Community College

The centerpiece of Chatham County’s educational and training efforts is Central Carolina Community College. With two locations in Siler City and Pittsboro, CCCC provides quality education and affordable training to local students in a wide variety of two-year degrees and certificates through their curriculum and continuing education courses. The Pittsboro campus has garnered much attention for its one of a kind programs in sustainable agriculture, bio-fuels, green building, and sculpture. Central Carolina is also home to the Chatham County Small Business Center, which provides business planning services to local entrepreneurs.

Regional Colleges and Universities

In addition, a number of excellent public and private universities are within an hour’s drive of Chatham County’s borders, including the UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina State University, and North Carolina Central University in the Research Triangle region and UNC - Greensboro and the North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in the Piedmont Triad region. Each of these top rated universities provide opportunities for connecting local businesses with highly educated workers, new research, and industry innovations.
